SETTING GOALS – WHY IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR WEIGHT LOSS BY PATRICIA

Many people go to the gym day in and day out, use a cardio machine, maybe a weight machine or two and are off to the showers, feeling glad that they did something besides veg out on the sofa binge watching television. And they should be glad that they did make it to the gym instead of giving in to the sofa’s siren call. However, without a goal and a road map on how to get there, they are probably going to make little or no gains towards their ideal shape and size.

Don’t get me wrong, great progress can and will be made if you regularly workout. However, working out with a purpose, with a goal in mind, will motivate you and focus you in on what you are trying to accomplish.  Therefore, set achievable, realistic goals that get you one step closer  to the body that you want and once you reach that goal, set the next one. Keep going, keep motivated and you will achieve your goals – you just need to know what those goals are.

    Interesting!

Setting goals is a very important aspect in anything you want to accomplish. It’s like having a clear road map to where you want go/be. It’s like reaching a fork in the road during your journey and trying to decide witch road to take. Well, if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.

Setting and achieving goals should be a normal part of your life.

      Hi SanShar,

Yes! If you don’t have goals or a plan, how do you know if you reached them! It should be a part of most every part of life, especially fitness!

  • Hi, Patricia! Goals are essential for success in almost anything we do. Goals in losing weight included. I know my goal is to lose the tummy fat. I record daily calory intake, and try exercise 2-4 times a week. Do you think these goals should be counted as good ones?
    Thanks.
    Katya.

Hi Katya, thanks for your comments and question. Yes having a goal motivates us and keeps us focused. Realize that you can not really target where your fat will come off – it comes off the whole body, not just from our stomach when we lose fat. You can focus on increasing your muscle tone by working your abdominals more. A strong core is always a good thing to strive for. Good luck!
