Gratitude is Key

I remember my daughter complaining about not having a full set of Dora the Explorer dolls or the latest Barbie fashion doll, etc. I would tell her to focus on what she does have and not what she doesn’t. In retrospect, I think that is one of the best pieces of advice to come out of me and I would do well to remember it myself when I am whining about not having the scale read my dream body weight number or when I am complaining to myself that I am driving the old car today instead of the preferable one that I want to drive.

We should all try to change our prospective and look at life with more gratitude for all that we do have including our  health,  regardless of the challenges that we are faced with daily. For one thing, we would be happier  but also I believe that we would succeed more since success comes partly from attitude as well.

This is one thing I am trying to teach my children. Although they have tons of toys they always look after the next new shiny thing so it is very important to teach them to respect what they have now and think that many people don’t have even half of what they do. This way they will learn to respect what they have been given and certainly make them better persons overall.
